Did you know that you can get great "MACRO" effect photographs with a telephoto zoom lens? Take a look at this video to see the results! I used my Canon 40D equipped with the EFS 55-250mm lens (naked) without any kind of macro attachment. All photos were shot over a two day period, hand-held, with a fairly brisk breeze blowing. Camera was set on AV (Aperture Priority) and manual focus. With the lens at or near full zoom of 250mm it produces an EXTREMELY shallow depth of field with lots of bokeh. If you own a telephoto lens give it a try. Set manul focus as close as possible then step in or out to achieve a sharp focus. You'll probably be two to three feet away from your subject and still get that macro look. (Uploaded as WMV file to test format on Vimeo).
