This is the zoom recording of the April 27, 2020 inaugural #LoveWITHAccountability™ Virtual Book Talk Conversation. Editor Aishah Shahidah Simmons talks with five contributors — Pops’nAde (Peter J Harris and Adenike A. Harris), Tonya Lovelace, Ignacio Hutia Xeiti Rivera and Lynn Roberts — to her groundbreaking anthology, Love WITH Accountability: Digging Up the Roots of Child Sexual Abuse, published by AK Press in October 2019.
Love WITH Accountability features writings by 40-adult diasporic Black child sexual abuse survivors and advocates who explore how we can address child sexual abuse without solely relying on policing and prisons. The Love WITH Accountability anthology is a 2020 Lambda Literary Award Finalist.
The #LoveWITHAccountability® Project's focus is on diasporic Black survivor-centered, non-carceral responses to child sexual abuse, and by extension, adult rape and all forms of sexual violence.
ASL translation generously provided by Pamela Collins, Jolanta Galloway, and Nicole Shambourger.
Behind the scenes support provided by Sheila Alexander-Reid, Liam Esposito, Lee Livingston Perine, Sam Davis, Suzanne Shaffer and Charles Weigl from AK Press.
Our zoom webinar learning curve resulted in viewers not seeing Aishah Shahidah Simmons and Pops'nAde read while the ASL Interpreters interpreted. Afterward, viewers will be able to see both the contributors and the ASL interpreters for the duration of the recording.
