GAPENSA member perform Silat Betawi move as a part of Betawi wedding ceremony. GAPENSA, a Betawi culture group led by Sarmili continously taking part in wedding ceremonials as Palang Pintu performers. Palang Pintu play is a combination between lenong (comedy play) and Silat Betawi (martial arts). The scenario of Palang Pintu is a quarelling between two groups of Betawi people led by Silat Betawi fighters. In a wedding ceremony the bride group will be the host, and the groom group as guest. The one wouldn’t allowed to pass the other territory before fighting. The bride group always in the losing side, with a message that in a marriage woman should pay respect to husband as a leader of the family. After Palang Pintu play, the wedding ceremony may proceed.
