Once you have created a Kidslox account and logged into Kidslox on your parent device as a Parent, you will be redirected to Setup child’s device screen to add your child’s Apple device to your account. Please note, both the parent and child devices will be logged into the same Kidslox account. However, if you follow the instructions I’m about to give, you don’t need to enter your account credentials on the Child device as your account information will automatically be transferred from the Parent device regardless of whether it is an Apple or Android device. So, let’s see how it works.
To add the child’s device you need to have it in your hands. In case it is so, tap YES.
Now choose the platform running on your child’s device. Tap - iOS. The next screen with QR code and instructions will appear.
At this point take your child’s device and open Camera on it. Scan the QR code with the child’s device and tap the appearing message at the top to open the Safari browser. Tap Open and you will be redirected to the Kidslox page on App Store. Here tap Get to install the app and Open when finished. That’s it! This way your child’s device has been logged into your Kidslox account. To proceed enter Kidslox PIN.
Now enter a name, choose the age and set the avatar to represent the device in the list of your controlled devices. Tap Next. On this screen enable push notifications. Activate them to make sure you won’t miss important notifications regarding your child’s activity. They are also used to ensure that mode changes and daily limits work correctly. So tap Enable push notifications > and Allow in the pop-up window.
Now is the most important setup step which is installing an MDM profile. It enables Kidslox to provide parental controls either from the device itself or remotely from the parent device. As the setup process may be technically tricky a video tutorial has been sent to your registration email. You can also watch it right away by tapping the Watch video tutorial now button. For now there is no need as I am going to explain it to you here. So tap Got it. The Safari browser will start and on the pop-up message tap Next and then Allow to download the profile and close the pop-up. To install MDM profile, quit Safari > open the Settings app on the device home screen > tap Profile Downloaded under your Apple ID. Proceed by tapping Install, entering your device passcode, install again, trust and then done.
Great! The MDM profile has been installed, and your child’s iPhone or iPad is now added to your account and can be controlled remotely. To do so, open Kidslox on your parent device and the list of your controlled devices opens. So far there is only one device listed - the one you have just added. You can add up to 10 devices to your Premium Kidslox account by choosing Control another device button. To set custom restrictions for the particular device choose it in the list. This way you can see the screen time statistics, change modes, block apps and unwanted web content, set daily limits and schedules, and change other restrictions for this device.
