1995 SUNBOWL XI - 1995 Championship Game of the Queensland Gridiron Football League (now Gridiron Queensland).
The 1994 SUNBOWL Champions, the Gold Coast Stingrays found it tough going defending their title in 1995, struggling all season and only just qualifying in 4th position for the QGFL semi-finals with an upset win over the Toowoomba Chargers in the last game of the regular season, prophetically, on a 4th Down, long range TD pass on what ended up as the last play of the game.
Backing into the playoffs only strengthen the resolve of the defending champs as they pull off another upset, beating the 1995 Minor Premiers, the Brisbane Bulldogs in their Semi-Final game, setting them up for a rematch against the Toowoomba Chargers @ Neumann Oval, Albion.
SUNBOWL XI proved to be the battle of the defensive titans. Both teams came tantalisingly close to scoring, by the end of regulation, the scores were still locked at 0-0.
With NCAA Overtime rule in effect, the Stingrays offense took to the field first in overtime. This video shows you how it turned out!
