The Sheriff's Department is reminding teens and parents to be safe, smart and responsible this prom and graduation season. Make this time to remember, not regret. NBC San Diego's Artie Ojeda reports on recent illegal parties teens are hosting at vacant homes.
In recent weeks, the Sheriff's Encinitas Station has responded to calls for service involving large teen parties in Rancho Santa Fe. Deputies have identified students from Torrey Pines and La Costa Canyon High Schools at the parties, which involve underage drinking and drug use. Two of the parties involved more than 200 teens and when deputies arrived, they scattered, which is a grave concern for the community and the welfare of the teenagers, many of whom were driving cars.
We want your help in keeping these teenagers and our community safe from underage drinking and driving, alcohol and drug use.
The Sheriff's Department will be enforcing all laws applicable in these situations. Those laws include curfew, Social Host ordinances, driving under the influence, burglary, vandalism and drug laws.
If you have a tip about an upcoming party, call us at (858) 565-5200.
