Having worked in over 3,500 communities and led over 4,000 walking audits throughout North America, Dan Burden is both the inventor of the walking audit and the “Johnny Appleseed” of walkability. He is currently a senior urban designer and executive director of the Walkable and Livable Communities Institute, and previously co-founded Walkable Communities and the Bicycle Federation of America.
