Bookworks Presents #4: Lockdown TV with Isabel Waidner

Lockdown TV is the only episode of Isabel Waidner’s DIY television show, commissioned for Book Works’s lockdown programme. The video features the first ever reading of Waidner’s novel-in-progress, Sterling Karat Gold (Peninsula Press, 2021). The novel is a book-length engagement with absurdity and precarity which may resonate with experiences provoked by the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

Isabel Waidner is a writer and critical theorist. Their novel We Are Made Of Diamond Stuff was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize 2019 and the Republic of Consciousness Prize 2020. Waidner’s writing has appeared in journals including AQNB, Frieze, Tripwire and Book Works’ The Happy Hypocrite Issue 10, edited by Virginija Januškevičiūtė. Waidner is a co-founder of Queers Read This at the ICA, and an academic at Roehampton University, London.
