This is a quick edit of event action from the first stop on the 2012 AWT (American Windsurfing Tour) near Santa Cruz, California. While Friday was an epic day of action, the unfortunate reality is I had to trash more than half of my footage due to a 'soft focus' issue with the telephoto lens I borrowed for the day. So in short, this video contains all the salvageable shots...

Rewinding on a historical note, the first time I competed at Waddell Creek was back in mid-May of 1985 for a leg of the California Surf Sailors Tour. That was when I met Kai Katchadourian for the first time. He actually lent me a larger sail right before the finals, which I ended up getting second place to local Doug Mack. So believe me when I say the whole AWT contest crew ripped the top off Waddell with a level of wave sailing performance never seen before at that beach!
