The Women of Kadahalli village generate their own income by creating jewellery, bags, cards, notepads, pens & peper from recycled magazines, newspapers, brochures, flyers; you name it & they can make something with it.
Saras Ganapathy, founder of The Belaku Trust, believes that money in a woman's hand goes twice as far for the family than in a man's. Income generation groups such as these are just some of the programmes run by the NGO in an effort to sponsor sustainable change for the welfare of women & children in the Kanakapura Taluk.
** As an AusAID sponsored new-media aid-worker I lived & worked with The Belaku Trust for 8months to build a photographic library, shoot a number of digital documentaries, & create a social media strategy including a new website.
As a one woman band, this is still very much a work in progress one year on. These are the beginnings of my effort to help The Belaku Trust tell the story of their important work in this remote part of the world.
