In Bolivia, Fundacion Pueblo supports a lodging initiative for students living in rural areas far away from schools.
This program favours students who have to walk long distances to reach their schools with the advantage of being able to lodge in a family environment. Students are lodged during class days in the homes of families located in the same town or village as the school nucleus. On holidays and weekends they return to their homes. Currently the municipal government assumes the cost of the programme and its administration.
This initiative won Second Place in the CEPAL UNICEF promoted innovations.
