Final project by Chloé Dorgan for Design Studio at Rhode Island School of Design.
How can we interpret and represent sound? What are its qualities and how can we translate them?
With reference to Rudolf Laban's theories of movement, I made a system to interpet sound and translate it into motion. I made a "script" for a walk I made around Providence, RI, writing down each sound. I then went to the studio and used my body as a translator for these sounds into motions that may represent them. Then I complied them on Photoshop, varying the opacities so as to mimic the convergence of sounds in a city.
