Merle Mees joined the Pleasant Valley staff in 2007. He is the lead teaching pastor and oversees the church’s multi-site strategy.
He is passionate about seeing lives changed by the Gospel and is committed to leading Pleasant Valley in unleashing the transforming influence of Jesus in the Northland and beyond. His personal mission is to live life in such a way as to cause others to applaud Jesus.
Prior to coming to PV, Mees served in two other churches. He was director of ministries and teaching pastor at Westside Family Church in Lenexa, Kan., from 2004-2007, and the lead pastor of Western Hills Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., from 1990-2004.
He and his wife, Karen, have been serving churches since they were newlyweds. They share the value of family and treasure their two grown sons, Nathan and Paul, and daughter-in-law, Kerry.
