As a follow up to Medusa, this is inspired by the chant of one of the seven sirens Molpe, the musician. The sound work has entirely been created from voices and whispers, whether in their pure or digitally manipulated form, halfway between acousmatics and narrative immersion.  Medusa  Inspired by Shelley’s poem (On The Medusa of Leonardo da Vinci), this piece refers to a creature whose symbolism is ambivalent. Charm and horror, attraction and repulsion, are entangled through screams, laments, chants and sighs. The sound work has entirely been created from voices for an 8-channel diffusion on September 24, 2010 at the Poitiers Planetarium.  Whale In  Sound piece designed for the Radiophonic Creation Day 2009 - “Locked IN” was a field recording made by Jean-Philippe Renoult in September 2008 on a trip through locks on the Danube (part of the European Sound Delta project). This audio file was then given to a few artists for a free transformation. The realisation that the dynamic range of the locks was very close to that of a voice led to produce several layers of vocal mimicry placed over the (unedited) field recording.  The Sleep In Opera  In 2002, the Contemplation Room project brought together international artists for a show at the Overgaden gallery and events in various public spaces in Copenhagen. The Sleep In Opera invited the audience to take part in a five nights sleep performance in a bunker under the Hans Christian Ørstedn park. The background research had taken place in a neurological centre specialised in sleep disorders (Hopital Guy de Chauliac, Montpellier). Some uncanny medical tales gathered there were told to the participants as bedtime stories. Simple techniques to avoid snoring were applied in reverse so as to ensure the audience would deliver a collective noisy performance. The sound was being diffused in real time in the (cruising) park above. To seal the exploration process, sounds recorded at the hospital and during the bunker performance were used as prime material for this composition.  Psychocosmetics  Audio soundtrack for an Installation and concealed performance at CellSpace, San Francisco, as part of the RED 11- BLUE 1/11 show with Phoenix Perry. This is audio composition is based on cut-up spoken words from antidepressant and cosmetic chemistry books. During the opening, a similuacrum was taking place in a hidden operating theatre/beauty parlour set. The images were projected in real time in the gallery through a CCTV device whose monitor had been placed a on a pedestal. The looped soundtrack was continuously diffused as an ambiguously informative message greeting visitors.
