The Royal Yacht Britannia Maintenance

Filmed over a number of days throughout in January 2012 the film features the maintenance process undertaken on the Royal Yacht from being moved from her mooring as an exhibition ship at Ocean Terminal to a dry dock in Leith. There her haul was repainted while a number of other important maintenance operation were undertaken.

Commissioned by the Royal Yacht Britannia Trust the purpose of this film (and a longer cut version) serves as a record of the event which is only undertaken one every 20 years.

In 2011 the Royal Yacht Britannia was Scotland’s most popular tourist destination.
When the five-star visitor attraction reopens to the public on February 1st following the restoration work I’m sure she’ll will continue to wow visitors in 2012!
