El Barrio Today presents Olga Quiñones on La Marqueta.
The EL BARRIO TODAY ARTS CLUSTER is a group founded by East Harlem's cultural organizations in an effort to guide you through your discovery of the beauty and singularity of El Barrio's cultural identity.
EL BARRIO is an area located in East Harlem and carries a unique history that is still evident today. From the moment you arrive, you're surrounded by its colors, rhythms and intense cultural richness. Diversity is reflected everywhere you turn through a multitude of restaurants, shops, gardens, galleries and murals.
LA MARQUETA, a local market located along Park Avenue, was once the "it" place in NYC where people went to buy local authentic ingredients to cook Caribbean food. Located under the elevated Metro-North railroad tracks, La Marqueta now houses Hot Bread Kitchen, a kitchen incubator space, alongside vendors and a greenmarket.
