UV Printing Coir Doormat | Compress iUV 1200
Coir mats are very popular. They do not mildew, dry quickly, are very good at cleaning dirt from your shoes, anti-static, easy to clean and they are water resistant … AND – they are great to decorate with UV printers!
Coir is made from coconut fiber – it is a waste product from the coconut industry. It is eco-friendly, inexpensive and very durable.
A quick search of the web shows that custom 30” x 18” coir mats sell for around $50 each. We were able to print a single mat in less than 8 minutes on the Compress iUV-1200s and could easily have loaded two and printed them in less than 12 minutes. It is realistic to print 8-10 mats per hour with the Compress iUV-1200s.
Cost breakdown is pretty simple – blank mat - $8-10 in small quantities down to $5-6 each if you are buying 100-500 at a time. For the sake of our example we will go with $9 cost for the mat. In the Home Sweet Home example we printed we used $1.27 in ink. Total COGS (Cost of goods) $10.27. If you sell at $50 retail we will realize a gross profit of $39.73 per mat. If you print 8 mats per hour you are making almost $317 per hour before labor costs. With a typical lease on a Compress iUV-1200s being less than $1100 per month, you can see that it would take under 5 hours of print time per month to make your lease payment. Or, less than 30 mats a month, to make that payment!
