This historic film treasure from midtown in the forties shows street scenes, advertising, Joan of Arc at the Victoria, the Latin Quarter music venue with Ted Lewis playing, bustle, buildings, Manhattan vistas, and the canonical view from the Empire State Building... a 4-minute flashback to a very different time. It began as an 8-mm home movie by Charlie Aton, and was digitized 72 years later by Harbor Digitizing for his son, Dave. The material was so fascinating that we gave it some post-processing to smooth the transitions, balance colors, and stabilize camera jitter.
