Appeal to get Maa Beadwork ladies back to work

Thanks to a generous donation of $17,500 from Sidekick Foundation, The Maa Trust and Mara Elephant Project distributed food parcels to 677 families engaged in Maa Beadwork, Maa Honey, and our scholarship programme. This was needed because of a cash flow crisis whereby Maasai families are unable to sell livestock or earn money to buy food for their families because of Coronavirus.

The video explains the food distribution process and the next steps that we would like to pursue to enable the women to earn money to buy food for their families. We are now launching a fundraising appeal for Maa Beadwork members to get back to work

We are trying to raise $35,000 which will keep 579 women in work for two months. Beadwork payments will be paid out monthly and matched with food donations. This will allow women to stop relying on handouts and empower them to support their own families, even during these times of crisis.
