This American Oystercatcher and his mate were feeding in the marsh at Fort Desoto. I was actually quite surprised to find them feeding together on this trip, as I’d seen photos of them building a nest over a week before, and would have expected one of them to be on the nest. During the trip I ran into the gentleman who’d photographed the nest. When he took me to where it had been, it was gone. We surmised that a raccoon or other predator had probably raided the nest.
