Queen Marie of Romania (1875-1938) was a very modern women. Her popularity internationally was akin to that of Lady Diana in contemporary times. Queen Marie had a unique sense of the esthetic inspired by ancient symbology, peasant folk traditions, the art-deco styles of her time, and her own special artistic vision. Much of this was embodied in the homes she created for herself in Romania: in the Carpathian Mountain sites of Sinaia and Bran, and on the Black Sea coast in Balcic (a zone returned to Bulgaria after WW-II. The film captures the passion she exuded for the world around her.
