On April 28, Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City opened ‘New Blood,’ a group exhibition featuring work from artists that have made a lasting impact in the art world as well as work from their proteges.
The premise of the show was to have established artists pass the torch to promising individuals or “New Blood.” The results is a wide range of work in varying mediums with an overwhelming amount of talent. The exhibition’s line up included Camille Rose Garcia / Travis Lampe, The Date Farmers / Albert Reyes, Dzine / Jesus Bubu Negron, Elizabeth McGrath / Morgan Slade, Gary Baseman / Jesse Dickenson, Gary Taxali / Adrian Forrow, Jonathan Yeo / Charlie Gouldsbrough (aka Ch-gh), Mark Jenkins / Sandra Fernandez, Nicola Verlato / Marco Mazzoni, Ron English / Kid Zoom, Saber / ZES, Shepard Fairey / Nicholas Bowers, and Tim Biskup / Patrick Hruby.
Avid art collector, Morgan Spurlock, from ‘Super Size Me’ and ‘The Greatest Movie Ever Sold’ fame, made his curatorial debut for the show. A longtime friend of the gallery, Spurlock conceptualized the idea for the show and presented it to Thinkspace owner Andrew Hosner. “Morgan has always been about helping out and supporting up and coming artists, so to see his vision for this show come to life has been very rewarding,” mentioned Hosner.
‘New Blood’ will remain on display at Thinkspace Gallery until May 19. For more information visit thinkspacegallery.com/
