This is a 'Case for Optimism' event, held at Volcano Theatre, Swansea April 2012. It draws on 'The Work That Reconnects', developed by deep ecologist and philosopher Joanna Macy and her concept of The Great Turning.
It is also influenced by the work of vernacular artist John Fox and artist Joseph Beuys whose theories of social sculpture described how transforming society is an artwork in itself.
Case for Optimism is part of a broad change movement that recognises the vitality of creativity of arts and culture within transition, including energy strategists CAT, community change agents Transition Town Network, economic think-and-do tank NEF (New Economics Foundation), campaign networks WWF through their work on values and frames, and arts-science change catalysts Tipping Point.
