My run down the Deer Stalker - according to Strava, not my quickest but it still felt pretty damn good (as far as I'm concerned).
Wore goggles for the first time, which was brilliant. I used to wear glasses, then moved over to contacts, which aren't perfect but for riding are more than sufficient in terms of depth of focus and clarity. Riding with a decent pair of wrap frames is great but goggles took riding to a whole new level, at speed. Tremendous confidence.
You'll see in the video some idiots (this is polite) pushing UP the trail. The Deer Stalker and all the runs that start from the top are dense packed woodland, rapid descent with a lot of gully runs. THIS IS NOT the kind of thing you should be pushing up, there are perfectly good fire roads that can be pushed or even ridden up - even I manage to ride up them FFS
VERY angry rant over.
Bloody enjoyed myself at Swinley today - there have been some good improvements on the trail in the last couple of weeks, nice to see my season permit is worth the money.
