These five Athletes have been very successful in post-injury life, and a big part of that has been the support High Fives has been able to provide. The support from our partners and donors gives us the means to introduce “athletes” to new adaptive sports, Healing Network programs, an amazing adaptive community, adaptive camps and so much more. This is possible because of you! From the bottom of all High Fives staff and Athletes, thank you!
The man with the best hair around!
Justin was an avid skier who took a bad fall while skiing Squaw Valley. The fall caused extensive damage to Justin’s body and permanently damaged his spinal cord at T4/5 Level. Currently residing in Denver, CO, the Bay-area native had always been a big time skier, surfer and outdoorsmen. Instead of focusing on what he could no longer do he focused on how he was still going to do what he wanted to-just in a different fashion.
He worked hard in his rehabilitation and found a new independence and zest for life very quickly. It wasn’t long after his accident that he was back in the mountains skiing again and in the ocean catching waves with friends.
Justin continues to inspire us and provide insight and motivation to new athletes and individuals living with spinal cord injuries via peer-mentoring.
