When a single mother and six-year-old son; Charlie goes sightseeing in the little Italian town of Sorrento, Charlie soon discovers the colourful and mesmerizing world of gelato (the Italian equivalent to ice cream). Charlie is unable to take his eyes of the voluptuous heaps of flavours that have been artfully moulded into a beehive shape sprinkled with chocolate, wafers and fruits. When they are in the restaurant Charlie prays to God for ice cream but his prayer is overheard by a disgusted Italian man.
Charlie is saddened at the thought that he did something wrong, but he is told by a new friend that God thought his prayer was great. In the end, the tables are turned when it is the old Italian man who should have prayed for ice cream.
