This is one of two KILLZONE 3 game cinematics I provided fx work for while at Digital Domain. Mainly ash and embers. Particle simulations in Maya. There is also an electrical effect for the back of a ship.
In the second cinematic, it's just more snow and ash-like particle simulations.
In one shot, after a huge explosion, tons of background building debris flies towards camera in slow motion. We were having difficulty getting all of the geometry to sim and to change speed, so I ended up hand animating all of the debris. Ridiculous!
