For the first time I joined Vanilla Riot, on their tour of Slovenia and Austria mid May 2012. The tour started easy with a gig on the radio(!) and then continued to Vienna, Klagenfurt before we ended up in the Slovenian mountains and the fantastic Cerkno Jazz festival. An inspiring tour in one of the most picturesque parts of Europe. For the first time in my project of accompanying music with visuals I was sitting on stage with the band, and was not able to see the final result from the audience. Though this has been prefered before I really discovered the advantages of being more "in the band" when performing my visuals. -A fair approach considering that the band don't hear the final result for the audience anyway. Seeing it from the perspective of the musicans, and experiencing the mood changes created by the visuals I realized more than ever an interaction with the music. Trough sound signals and the experience of sound in the room, I followed the different soundscapes trough different faces. Sometimes I also had a definate voice in the choises made through the improvisation. I could pick up the pace and control the buildup/builddowns in the set by influencing the drummer who had the "front row view". This recording is excerpts of the gig in Klagenfurt where the conditions where ideal for documentation. More documentation is available.
