A small placer operation working a permafrost bluff on the EL Claims, near Dominion Creek YT. Palaeontologists were on site to collect ancient bones, plant fossils and tephra (volcanic ash) from this unique site in the Dawson goldfields.
The site is unique because the age of the tephra puts these soils, and their associated fossils at ~90k yrs old, much holder than most sites in the gold fields.
