The River is an array of laser cut acrylic sheets illuminated by 72 LEDs animated based on an analysis of sound samples recorded along the Singapore River, with the recorded data interacting with lights via a custom made program, resulting in the celebration of the notion of light as life. The concept of the artwork revolves around our conclusion that the Singapore River is a very appropriate representation of Singapore as a growing nation through how it has similarly transformed over the years. Audiences are encouraged to walk alongside The River, basking themselves in the glow of light emitted from the artwork and enjoying the tranquil moment while reflecting on the concept of the Singapore River as a representation of life, of Singapore.
