This was a brief set at university, to create animated typography. Nothing could be computer generated, computers could only be used to edit the footage together and add effects at the end. For this project I barely touched the computer. I made stencils of letters, A-Z and recorded natural sounds of light bulbs. To get the movement effect I hung a torch from the ceiling and swung it back and forth above the stencil. I then filmed the floor where the light shone through the stencil to. I edited the sound footage to the image to give each image it’s own identity through sound. I then placed the letters together to create words to see how it would all sound and look together. This footage shows that my animated alphabet can easily be applied to title sequences or typography within a film. It also makes as just a nice typographic piece too.
