Jith Paul is a filmmaker based in Ottawa, Canada, a producer, director, cinematographer and editor of several award-winning short films, documentaries and music videos. More information projects he has collaborated on can be found at imdb.to/jithpaul.
Jith is a graduate of the television broadcasting program at Algonquin College and holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo. He is the president of Treepot Media, Inc. which he founded in 2010.
He considers filmmaking a team sport and is keen on fostering collaboration amongst emerging artists. This led to the launch of Treepot.tv, a channel streaming a series of webisodes that feature musicians and actors, promoting learning and sharing amongst local filmmakers. After several popular episodes and with a committed fan base, Treepot.tv approved for HD streaming on iTunes, six months after its launch.
Eager to step things up to the next level found Jith started collaborating with several local filmmakers from Say Ten Productions, Symphonic Filmworks, NHS Studio, JDL Pictures, SplitKlips, Parktown Productions and Studio6 Productions on several short films and music videos. He founded the Treepot Indie Filmmaker Showcase, a celebration of work by indie artists and filmmakers as a venue to share some of these projects other curated pieces that represent the the best in local indie short films, documentaries and music videos. The inaugural event played to a capacity theatre in September 2011 and a second showcase was held in March 2012.
Jith is an accomplished documentary film Editor, working on several projects including the award-winning “This is My Witness” and “How Can a Boy” produced by Kublacom Pictures and “North Boys” produced by Second Shooter Productions.
Jith freelances as a photographer, camera operator, DIT/DMT and editor. His recent clients include Evolv Health, Affinity Productions, inMotion, The Centre for Equity and Human Rights at the University of Ottawa and Help Lesotho.
