Ian James seminar examines Jean-Luc Nancy’s philosophical engagement with the question of technology in relation to the German phenomenological thought of Martin Heidegger (1889-1976). The seminar focuses on the manner in which Nancy poses the question of technics and technology in relation to aesthetic experience. Students are encouraged to think these issues through in relation to wider questions of artistic practice and criticism.
