Made six years after the birth of my second child in six weeks, following a residency in Milkwood gallery's basement, this animation forms part of an installation, 1 of 3 works exhibited in my latest solo exhibtion 'Post -Partum' in April 2012. Using a vertical sheet of perspex onto which I cast shadows of 'real' objects (a cot, a fairy mobile) which I then animated using stills, with 'real' time filmed elements such as the mother & tree, then placed together an invented space. The film was projected onto the wall, through an 'real' window of a replica room constructed within the gallery, . The empty cot & mobile, objects placed in the room, become totemic as their shadows selves are brought to life, projected both metaphorically and literally out of time.
The film is an imagined version of events, a nostalgic replay of invented memory, making good my own hormonally neurotic fears.
