For nearly four decades the members of Wasmer American Legion Post in Le Mars, Iowa have had an Avenue of Flags at the Plymouth County Courthouse. Now, nearly twelve hundred flags dedicated to deceased service members are raised each Memorial Day. At a service later in the morning the roster of names is read by Le Mars Attorney Patrick Murphy. This film documents the early morning ritual of placing the flags by volunteers from across the community.
