The Joseph H. Kanter Family Foundation envisions a Learning Health System "KFF was born of the frustrations [Joseph Kanter] faced as a prostate cancer patient unable to obtain scientific evidence about “what works best” in health care, based on the collective real-world experiences of other patients – evidence that would have helped [him], and others like [him], make better informed, life-or-death health decisions."

At the Learning Health System Summit, May 17-18, 2012, I was asked to deliver a dinner speech, about the power of information to improve the effectiveness of medical care - not just for the patients, but for every doctor and nurse at the bedside. Because everyone performs best when they're better informed.

At the National Press Club, Washington DC, May 17, 2012.
