Meditation Australia presents an online interview series hosted by MA Board member and meditation teacher, Megan Spencer.
This episode Megan speaks with Elizabeth and Ken Mellor, founders of The Awakening Network, a “not-for-profit, educational, spiritually-oriented” meditation organisation, membership network and teaching centre based in Seymour, regional Victoria. Community is a big part of it.
Ken’s primary training is in social work and psychotherapy and he also "trained intensely with three Indian masters" during a 30-year period. Elizabeth is an educator, social worker, family therapist and psychotherapist. Both are authors (and co-authors) of a range of books, including 'Urban Mystic' (Ken's memoir) and 'Bushfire' (a children's book written by Elizabeth). Their work - and network - extends to, and is known, around the world.
Together they specialise in self-awakening, professional and personal development and parenting, and have taught, mentored and practitioner-trained to hundreds if not thousands of people since creating the network in 1984.
They also run workshops and speak at public events, together and individually, in Australia and internationally. Together they facilitated a session at MA’s inaugural Australian Meditation Conference in 2018, called “The joy of mystical experiences and its practical application”.
Mysticism is a fundamental part of their personal practice and teaching, as you'll hear in this fascinating conversation.
