Kelly Adams is one of the new teaching fellows with the Modern Story. Kelly believes in the power of the film medium to empower and give voice to people and communities around the globe, while facilitating cross-cultural dialogue and recognition of our unity and diversity as inhabitants of planet Earth.
Coming from a background in Anthropology and Environmental Earth Science, her academic interests rest at the intersection between the nature of human experience and the human experience of nature. After graduating from Johns Hopkins University, Kelly spent some time completing a 200-hr Yoga teacher certification course in Baltimore, Maryland before embarking on her first journey to India in June, 2011. Kelly spent about 8 months living and working in Pune, Maharashtra on behalf of an online film festival - until February when she moved on from this position towards a 3 month layover in Turkey. Bridging the boundary of Europe and Asia, Istanbul (Turkey) served as a welcome stepping stone from East to West, and led to a 6 week experience in the Cappadocia region of central Turkey working on an independent video project about the spirit of Cappadocia she entitled "Landscape Biography: Cappadocia."
After the opportunity to refresh on familiar American soil for one month, she is excited to return to India with the Modern Story to engage with the students of Hyderabad, bring creativity into the classroom, and give back to this country that touched her heart, mind, and self the first time she landed on its soil.
