Inspired by and created during a 13 week journey through the Andes and Amazon of Peru and Bolivia in the southern spring of 2007 while working with Where There Be Dragons (http://www.wheretherebedragons.com). Ayni is the Andean term for reciprocity as manifest in the relationships between humans and Pachamama, animals and their guardian spirits, etc., communal field work and ritual offerings of gratitude known as K'oas or Ch'allas. Basically it is the reciprocity that extends through our entire relational web of existence. This film is a work of ayni, an expression of gratitude. And it is a capturing of ayni at work in the heights of the Andes and the depths of the Amazon in this most geographically isolated of the American lands.
