As there are thousands of Americans who have been exiled from their home land in order to stay with their partners, Beth left Australia to go home to California and to Europe alone, choosing to shoot solo-style, meeting same-sex, bi-national couples she had met over the Internet. A gentle rhapsody on humanity, LOVE REFUGEES is part observational, part essay, and a little bit personal. What started as a closer look into equal rights becomes a deeper look at identity.
This film was the culmination of her master's degree at the Victorian College of the Arts.
