More than $2,800 was raised for Haiti at a talent show May 12 featuring youth groups from the First Haitian Baptist Church of Norwich and Peniel Church.
More than 300 people attended the event at the Kelly Middle School auditorium. Proceeds will go to 35 Seconds for Haiti, a ministry of the Haitian Baptist church that is supported by Peniel. The outreach is focusing its initial efforts on meeting needs in Petit Goave, a coastal town 35 miles west of the capital, Port-au-Prince — an area that was devastated by the 2010 earthquake. Nearly $15,000 has been raised since the outreach launched on the one-year anniversary of the earthquake. For more information, or to make a donation online, go to 35secondsforHaiti.org.
