The Backbay Scratchers - October

Presented by Western Arctic Moving Pictures
The 4th Annual WAMP 48 Hour Music Video Competition pairs amateur and professional filmmakers with top musical talent from around the north. These randomly matched artists form a Video Production Team that has to quickly come up with a concept, and then go out to find props, locations, actors, and in some cases, explosives. They have to shoot, edit and deliver at break-neck speeds. They also have to manage not to kill each other during this exceptionally vigorous 48 hour competition.
WAMP is a Yellowknife based non-profit arts society. Our mission is to produce, promote, showcase and support independent film and video throughout Canada's Northwest Territories.
We deliver film and media related workshops to hundreds of kids and adults each year. Animation, documentary, dramatic features and shorts, we cover it all. We have also developed a series of Professional Mentorship programs all across Canada with the help of our community partners.
Along with the 48 Hour Music Video Competition and major film screenings, WAMP also hosts the Yellowknife International Film Festival each year. Creative WAMP events like these ones rely on the hard work and support of an active membership; our dedicated staff, sponsors and volunteers; and people like you.
