REC Silicon is changing the way polysilicon, a key component in the production of solar panels, is manufactured.
The company has invested more than $1.7 billion expanding its sophisticated Moses Lake facility,
including installing technology known as Fluid Bed Reactors. Polysilicon made with Fluid Bed Reactors is
cleaner, faster and less expensive than the current industry standard technology. It uses just 10 percent of the
electricity required to produce traditional polysilicon. Lowering the cost of the material is all part of the company’s larger aim of lowering the cost of solar power and making it competitive with conventional energy
