In this brief video clip the Departures crew and Koryo Tours director Nicholas Bonner experience a unique clam barbeque -- cooked in petroleum. On a visit to the coast they dug up some clams and the driver being the chef cooked the clams in his specialty way -- in petroleum. There is a season when the clams are poisonous, the flesh has poison which is fatal -- Did they eat at the right time?
Filmed in 2009 and broadcast first in 2010 this program was part of the third series of the Departures television program in which two Canadians embark on a globe-trotting journey to some of the most interesting places in the world. Their trip to North Korea, accompanied by Koryo Tours' Director Nicholas Bonner was filled with so much broadcastable material that two programs rather than the usual one were produced from the adventure
