Norm Gershman has led a fascinating life. A former stockbroker on Wall Street, he then became a professional photographer and created a book about Muslims who saved Jews in Albania during WWII. When he was turning 70, his children decided to honor him with his life story movie as a gift. It also became a Tribute to him and a walk down memory lane as his children, ex-wife, grandchildren, and close friends all had amazing stories from the heart to tell about him. Norm's son, Eric, composed all the music for the film.
We filmed him and his sister walking through their old neighborhood in Bayonne, NJ. Ringing the doorbell at their childhood home, they discovered that their upstairs neighbor was still living there after all those years. What a moment to capture on film!
Besides the amazing opportunity to spend time with Norm, this project inspired me to move to CO. Norm lives near Aspen and my February trip to interview him there led me and my husband to decide to relocate permanently to the beautiful state.
