We want to float and sing on a sculptural boat on Jamaica Bay in the Rockaways, New York City. The boat is made from old docks, trees and fabric. We'll ferry you out to the glowing dome; with our feet dangling in the opening in the center. We'll host guest musicians to teach their songs at free and open events for anyone to float and learn.
We hope to hold a series of free and open events in July and August for people to get out into the water and learn songs together. This project aims to provide direct interaction with water and singing in New York City. Labor to repair the boat is volunteer, docking space is donated by Marina 59, and everything we can make from re-used materials we do, but some things still cost money.
-Materials, hardware, rope, fabric, transpo, tools to repair from the winter’s damage
-Rig up an inverter and car batteries to keep the lights on, lanterns, lightbulbs
-Pay a skipper and rent a boat to ferry people into the bay for 6 events
-Pay musicians to teach their songs on the craft:
-Folks to run entry gate / event help
