Pacific Northwest dualsporters and others will know of the Back Road Discovery routes put together by Butler Maps, Touratech and others. First came the WA BDR and now the UT BDR. Well, we were in UT and we have dualsport BMW's so off we went to do sections of it. In this particular video it is a section called Butler Wash that heads North between Mexican Hat and Bluff. (BTW, we had a great stay in Bluff the night before.)
Unfortunately, the dry and very windy weather conditions in the SW have created quite the volume of silt. You know, that really fine dust/sand stuff. The kind we never see in WA. Well, long story short this turned into a very unpleasant ride for her. My F800GS and the Heidenau K60 tires did pretty good - sat and foot-paddled my share of sections, but stayed up and moving. Unfortunately, she is still trying to wear out the OEM street oriented tires and they just didn't work here. (They did fine on Steens Rd and others.)
