Skeptics have one defining characteristic... they tend to think a lot about thinking, a process known as "metacognition". Although the human mind is capable of incredible acts of abstract reasoning, it is also susceptible to a bewildering array of flaws. We can hope to overcome these weaknesses by understanding them, in order to improve our ability to reason, and ultimately, to build a better world. In this presentation to the Ottawa Skeptics, Dana Peters describes some topic related to metacognition and its importance to skeptics.
