A somewhat dated yet excellent example of the power of entertainment-education. Soul City is a long-term campaign produced in South Africa. Originally designed by a Christian physician to empower poor blacks and coloreds with life-saving health information, the initiative has gone on to tackle a host of social problems including domestic violence, AIDS, prenatal care, and drinking. Centered around a dramatic television series, the initiative also uses radio, print, music and other media to reach its target audience.

Soul City South Africa is about you – about showing you what is possible, what you can do, what social change means and how to achieve great things for your own health, your own quality of life and for those around you.
