Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Tomas Becu (member of Mompox) has developed his career in a very unusual way. After studying in New York with Bill Frissel, David Liebman, Peter Bernstein and in Argentina with Ernesto Jodos and Pino Marrone, he released his first solo album entitled Bushwick. Because of the success of this record, it seemed to be that Tomas was going to develop his career as a jazz musician career. Nevertheless, later on he became part of a group of fellow musicians, which after two years of recording, gave birth to their first album called Mompox & The Big Umbrella.
